Forest and Hunter Green
It’s common knowledge that black is the most versatile color because it makes you want to buy anything that has it in its color palette.
But what about true greens? Do they have the potential to be as versatile?
Like most color combinations, the answer is – yes and no.
T he main issue with forest green and hunter green is that, like plain black, they are too monochromatic. Often the common view is that these shades of green are too similar.
That said, green works very well with several colors such as:
- Blues
- Burgundy
- Navy
- Ecru
Black Shoes
Black shoes will always be a safe choice, and they are also usually the right choice to go with a green dress.
A black dress shoes will perfectly blend in with the dark green of brown or olive green dresses, but they will also stand out a little and look elegant enough.
Avoid the temptation to opt for a completely black shoe such as a patent shine or patent leather. These are a little too formal and shiny to be comfortable with an easy green dress
Go for dark brown shoes if you decide to go with a solid black option, preferably with a simple closed lace instead of a complex one with eyelets.
Metallic Shoes
A metallic color can be contrasted with any color except black. So, you can wear it with many different hues like green, grey, and blue.
And it doesn’t matter if you choose to go for a flat metallic shoe or more of a stiletto. For these colors, you want to go for a flat or even a pointed toe.
If you can’t possibly wear anything else than a classic stiletto, you can opt for metallic colors, but you will want to choose a heel with straps on it.
Finally, you want to avoid bold metallic colors, such metallic silver, to avoid being loud when wearing green. Be subtle with your choice of color. A gold metallic color will match beautifully with your green dress and still adds the accent you need to the dress.
Ivory Shoes
I advise you wear shoes of a color that blends in with your outfit. If the dress is ivory, wear ivory shoes. If the dress is black then buy shoes that are also black.
Never ever wear the exact same color as your dress. Just look what happens when your outfit and shoes match. It clashes with the dress and shouts “look at me.”
You don’t want that!
You could wear a white belt that matches the shoe instead. It carries the outfit and breaks up the outfit altogether.
The shoes you see down here are of the color that look good with an ivory dress.
For the more daring amongst you, you could try a camel color sandal with your ivory dress. It will also work well and you will stand out from the crowd. Or if you need more comfort, then why not choose a nice comfy pair of ivory shoes like the ones pictured here.
Brown Shoes
A pair of brown shoes is one of the best ways to look stylish and put together, without going too flashy or adventurous. There is something subtly great about brown shoes. They make you look presentable, but they don’t scream “dress up.”
As a result, you can pull them off in a multitude of occasions. Whether you’re in college, at work, going out for drinks, or just hanging out on a date, brown shoes can be a consistent presence in your daily life.
It’s also very difficult to screw up the color brown. Brown shoes work with nearly everything.
In general, a dark pair of brown shoes should only be worn in the fall and winter, while a lighter brown can easily be worn through spring and summer.
As a general rule of thumb, the lighter the shade of brown on your shoes, the warmer and lighter your feet will feel and the darker they are, the colder and gloomier your feet will feel.
This is because the darker a color is, the more you’re likely to absorb the color rays in the light spectrum. The darker the color, the more it will reflect darker wavelengths.
If you’re in doubt about whether you should wear brown shoes or not, just go with them.
Animal Prints
Hot Trends This Spring
Animal print is a new trend this fashion month but it is not a new trend on the runway. Animal prints have been around for a few years now. It seems that stores are getting stocked up on the trend which is why you suddenly see animal prints spreading everywhere.
But is the trend really popular or is it regaining its popularity?
Animal prints have always had their following but I see it as a cyclic trend that comes back and then goes away. We’re on the cusp of the trend coming back again!
I love spectator pumps, which are part of this trend. The sock-type of shoe has its roots in the equestrian world. The heel height ranges from 3 inches to 6 inches.
This style of shoe has been around for ages, but it had evolved from equestrian to a casual shoe. Just as animal prints are back in style, so is the spectator pump.
If you want to wear this trend, think of it as a neutral and it will look good with everything. Wear flats with black leggings and a black top. Add a cardigan in a bright color.
Pumps are hot with dresses. You can wear them with a form-fitting dress or with jeans or any other pants. Add a blazer if you want to look more professional.
Emerald Green
Everyone knows emerald, the ancient stone of the Mayans, Egyptians, and Sumerians. It’s a very expensive stone, even today.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, emeralds were exchanged for gold or silver, and in the Middle Ages, they were used as a substitute for diamonds when the stones were too large.
A person with a vivid imagination could go on for hours telling stories about this precious stone, but I’ll just tell you about its color.
The color is deep and dark green with a bluish or yellowish hue that can be seen in some varieties.
Here is a color palette with some of the best emerald green clothing color combinations.
Gold and Silver Shoes
If you’ve ever worn a green dress and wanted to wear shoes or accessories that matched it, but you were unsuccessful at finding the perfect item in your closet, here is what you can try to solve this problem.
First of all, you need to find a color that is extremely close in shade to your green dress. Luckily, gold and silver fall into this category.
Now that you’ve found your perfect match, all that’s left to do is to choose between a pair of gold or silver shoes. The choice is yours.
The answer to whether gold or silver shoes look better with a green dress is that it depends on the color of your skin and of your eyes.
If you have a light-colored skin and/or light-colored eyes, gold shoes will look better than silver, as gold is generally a warmer shade. But if you have a darker skin and/or darker eyes, silver shoes will look better.
To choose the perfect shade of gold shoes that stand out but still match your dress, look for gold shoes that match the color of your dress as closely as you can.
For instance, if your dress is light green, go for light gold shoes.
Blue Shoes
Blue is a shade of green, so use it with a green dress and you will find that the shade of green is so much richer. It will be more vibrant with a base color of blue.
One of the best things about the shade of green is that it attracts attention. It’s a color that says, “I’m here!” So it’s a great shade to wear when you are in a group of people or in a meeting where you want to catch the attention of others.
Brightly Colored Shoes
A vibrant green dress looks very classy, especially if combined with subtle accessories. Now, you may have been asked just what color shoes to wear with a green dress before, but the question was likely raised for a different reason than this one.
If you prefer to add a pop of color to your green dress, like in the photo, you should go with a bright color like red, orange, or yellow.
Darker colors also look good, but in this case, you should choose a shade that complements your dress, not contrasts with it.
For example, brown shoes with green clothing would be a cool contrast.
A comfortable pair of dark green, flat shoes made of smooth leather should be a top priority here.
Lime Green
A bright green outfit is an attention grabber. The overall effect you create with the green dress and lime green shoes can be sassy, happy, fun, flirty, daring.
The dress itself will deal mainly with brightening up your face to offset the green and most likely the opposite gender will be drawn to your fun and playful energy.
A lime green shoe in this color combination has many choices. Depending on the look that you are striving for, you can chose from sandals to tall orange pumps.
I found a nice cross between, AK Anne Klein Juliette Green Wedge Sandal.
This is a perfect combination for a date night, ladies night out, or a special occasion.
You want to make sure you shine in the lime green shoes to make the green in the dress stand out.
Citrus Shoes
If you already had a matching green dress and are in search of shoes then probably what you’re going to want to do is go with a bright color such as a sunshiny citrus green.
What you don’t want to do is wear plum colored shoes with this dress because they might clash with it and make it look a lot more green than it is.
Although you can wear all sorts of different colors with this dress, this particular color is not the one you want to do it with.
You might find more than a few of the same shoes available for purchase in the shade of green that you want.
What you want to do is wear something that is a little bit more muted than that and also something that has a bit more of a calm feel to it than this one. It should be a little bit cooler.
When you are looking at these greens they are all going to be in the spectrum of the same color family.
You can even find cheap shoes to wear with a dress such as this one.
This is just one of several different colors that will match orange.
You might find that this color doesn’t really work for you. You might find that this is a much too intense of a color for you to wear.
Patterned Shoes
Patterned or striped shoes go well when you are wearing a green dress as it distracts the eyes from the colour of the shoes.
If your dress is emerald green, pink or burgundy coloured, throwing in a floral, striped dress shoe is perfect.
But if your dress is a mint green, wear a solid neutral shoe to take the focus off the green, and visa-versa.
Avoid wearing a black shoe with a green dress because it is too matchy-matchy. Black, Chanel-type high heeled shoes work well with mid-tone fabrics.
A few extra tips on what shoes to wear with your green dress:
Choose the shoes with the same colour and shades as your dress.
Match your shoes to the colour of the flowers on your dress or to the motif on your dress.
Black shoes go with black, navy, burgundy or emerald green dress.
Other colours are not safe to match.
Don’t try unmatched shoes-red shoe with a baby blue dress, for example.
Avoid a sports shoe.
Sneakers
Or Heels to Wear with a Green Dress?
Wearing heather green dress is a little tricky because the color leans towards blue and purple. The color of your shoes can have a big impact on the outcome.
If you want a cooler and more lively look, choose a pink, red, or violet shoe. For a more relaxed look, choose shoes in light gray or cream white.
You should also keep in mind that the shoes will set the tone for the entire outfit. So if you like a more elegant look, go for neutral and sophisticated heels and avoid anything too flashy.
If you like a casual and relaxed look, go for some sneakers or even pink baby shoes.
Gray Shoes
Grey is halfway between black and white. It’s a color that works in so many color combination.
Here it is paired with white dress and green nail polish, it is one of the best color combination.
Individuality can be seen as the combination between uniqueness and fearlessness.
Uniqueness is a mix between your past life experience and present. It can be described as who you are. Fearlessness is more to live in the present moment and be inspired by anything that is currently happening around you.
When you wear a grey shoe with a white dress and green nail polish, it suggests the following:
Sandals
If you are going out with your friends on a hot day, you are likely to find yourself in some areas of the city where stores and restaurants are few and far between. You may also find that most of them are closed or only fit a small number of people.
So when choosing shoes for your next lunch date, you are likely to find yourself in one of two situations. Either you find the perfect shoe, but it has a closure strap, or you find just the right shoe with the right degree of comfort, but it’s open.
Deciding between shoes with a closure strap and shoes without can be tricky, especially if you have to walk a significant distance. It’s easy to simply assume that sandals are the better option in this situation.
But that’s only in terms of the ease with which you can remove them. The outcome could be very different on the other parts of your body. Sandals don’t protect and support your feet. They keep them exposed to every step of your walk.
They can also cause blisters or lead to foot complications like listeria. And if most of your day is going to be spent walking, you don’t want to give rocks and pavement the chance to cause damage to your feet.
Seafoam Green
If you’re interested in wearing a seafoam green dress but you’re not sure what color shoes to wear with it, you’ve come to the right place.
Depending on who you ask, the “rules” of color matching vary. The truth is, there are no rules in fashion except for the ones you make for yourself.
I’m going to give you some tried and true guidelines to help you break them to create your own style.
Primary colors are colors that cannot be combined to make another color.
You can’t combine red and yellow to make green.
However, there are secondary colors, which are created by combining primary colors.
Green is made when you mix blue with yellow.
The secondary colors (green, purple, orange, etc) can be combined to create tertiary or “intermediate” colors.
Tertiary colors are created by combining secondary colors in equal amounts.
Nude Shoes
Before you read any further, if you’re a guy wearing a green dress, then I’ll save you some time.
You shouldn’t be wearing any shoes. You don’t need fashion advice. In fact, the last thing you need is more clothes.
If you’re a woman looking to go matchy-matchy with your male dear, then you’re in luck. Following, I’ll provide a few recommendations and possible pairings of shoes and dresses.
The most versatile shoes for matching with green dresses are likely nude shoes. Beige, cream, or other light shades of nude will go with almost any green dress. If you’re not into nude shoes, though, you have more options, depending on the shade of green of your dress.
If your green dress is light or mint green, clear or light blue shoes should be an easy match. You can wear lighter blue shoes, just make sure they have some sort of accent color like a white tag or stripe. If you’re looking for all out comfort, you can make a stylish match with Birkenstock sandles or similar.
If your dress is emerald, darker blue will work and try to find a pair with some kind of accent color.
Purple and Patterned Shoes
If you happen to be wearing a bold dress with a bright yellow pattern, you can either take out the main color of the outfit ” the yellow, or go for a dark purple.
Because purple is adjacent to yellow, it provides a nice complementary to the outfit and makes for a good color combination. This is also one of the best color combinations for shoes. If the dress has red as the other bright color, it might not make for the best color combination.
Gray Shoes
Grey is halfway between black and white. It’s a color that works in so many color combination.
Here it is paired with white dress and green nail polish, it is one of the best color combination.
Individuality can be seen as the combination between uniqueness and fearlessness.

Holiday Styles
Dressing for the holidays is an easy job if you have the right set of clothes on hand. Some of you may have been planning for this for months but for those of us who wait until the last minute, it can be a bit of a challenge. After all, you want to be festive, not trashy! So here are some quick tips to help you out.
{1}. Try to match your shoes to your purse. It doesn’t matter what color but you want them to be the same color family. For example, my dress is lovely greys and purples so I chose shoes in a deeper purple tone outside the metallic/metallic combo.
{2}. You can play with the size of your accessories. I chose a statement necklace to add some bling and give some length to my look. Even though the shoes were large and bold, I kept the earrings simple and small to balance things out.
{3}. If all else fails, go retro. A headband is a great look and it’s super cute if you mix it up with your dress. As you can see, I chose a long pearl-pendant necklace to finish off the look.
What If Your Green Dress Has a Pattern?
Green is considered to be a color that suits everyone. You can match it with almost any color as it matches itself so well. However, if you’re wearing a green dress that has a distinct pattern, go for a solid shoe that won’t compete with the pattern.
A light pattern can be worn with black or brown. If it is more bold and colorful, pair it with a metallic shoe such as gold, silver, or bronze. Several gold or silver accessories can be borrowed from your earrings to your belt to complete the look.
Choose something different and bold that will compliment the colors and design of the dress.
If your dress has flowers or swirls, you can opt for a simple flat shoe without embellishments. An ankle strap with a small metal clasp can also work.
The pattern of the shoes will draw attention away from the dress and on to the shoes, which is the intention.
